On-Ice Team Skating Tryout
The on-ice team tryout is designed to evaluate skaters on their ability to skater in common synchro formations. Skaters will not be asked to perform the skills from the video portion of the tryout during this on-ice evaluation. Skaters wanting to skate on a Chiller Synchro competitive team are expected to attend this on-ice tryout unless alternate arrangements are made in advance.
The on-ice team skating tryout is the second part of Chiller Synchro's tryout and will take place on Wednesday, July 15th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Chiller North.
Both parts of the tryout process (on-ice team skating & individual video submission) must be complete for a skater to be considered for a competitive team in the 2020-2021 season. If a skater cannot attend the in-person tryout, alternative arrangements must be made in advance of the tryout date.
Attire
Skaters should wear black skating pants and a black top. Skaters hair should be in a clean ponytail. Makeup is optional.
Assessment
After a brief on-ice warm up, skaters will be divided into smaller groups for evaluation on their basic team skating skills.
Coaches will be evaluating skaters on their ability to take direction, listen, and participate in a team tryout format without being disruptive. More importantly, skaters will be assessed on their ability to skate connected in basic synchro formations (e.g. wheels, circles, lines, blocks, etc.) as well as their ability to skate in a no hold formation while maintaining speed and spacing.
Skaters will not be asked to perform the skills from the video portion of the tryout during the on-ice tryout.
